PocketVeil is an independent software project designed to protect your privacy when you lock your Android device.
PocketVeil can return selected apps to the Android Home screen when you lock your phone, so those apps are not left waiting on screen when you return.
PocketVeil is designed to work locally on your device.
Information PocketVeil accesses
Usage Access
PocketVeil requires Android Usage Access to determine which app was in the foreground when you locked your phone.
PocketVeil uses this information only to decide whether the currently open app has Lock Exit enabled.
PocketVeil does not use Usage Access to read the content of your apps, read what you type, or inspect pages or messages inside other apps.
App-usage information used by PocketVeil remains on your device.
Display over other apps
PocketVeil requires Android's “Display over other apps” permission so it can return you to the Android Home screen while PocketVeil is running in the background.
PocketVeil does not normally display floating windows, advertisements, or other content over your apps.
Notifications
PocketVeil may request permission to show notifications.
Notifications are used to indicate that PocketVeil protection is running and to provide controls such as stopping protection.
Notification permission is optional.
Background operation
PocketVeil uses an Android foreground service so Lock Exit can continue to operate while PocketVeil is not open on screen.
PocketVeil may also restart its protection service after your device restarts if protection was previously enabled and the required system permissions remain available.
Data collection
PocketVeil does not transmit personal information or app-usage information to the developer or to third parties.
PocketVeil does not require an account.
PocketVeil does not contain advertising.
PocketVeil does not have Android's Internet permission and does not send your app-usage information off your device.
Data stored on your device
PocketVeil stores the settings needed for the app to function, such as:
- which apps you have selected for Lock Exit;
- whether PocketVeil protection is enabled;
- onboarding and setup state;
- limited local diagnostic information used to show protection status inside the app.
This information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted by PocketVeil to the developer.
You can remove PocketVeil's locally stored information by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
Data sharing
PocketVeil does not sell personal information.
PocketVeil does not share your app-usage information with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Accessibility
PocketVeil does not use Android Accessibility Services.
Security
PocketVeil is intentionally designed without Android Internet access in order to reduce the possibility of locally accessed usage information being transmitted from the app.
As with any Android application, PocketVeil relies on the security protections provided by Android and your device manufacturer.
Your choices
You can revoke PocketVeil's permissions at any time through Android Settings.
If required permissions are revoked, some or all PocketVeil protection features may stop working.
You can also disable PocketVeil protection inside the app or uninstall PocketVeil at any time.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated if PocketVeil's features, permissions, or data practices change.
When changes are made, the effective date at the top of this policy will be updated.
